The TractionBoost Ring V3 maintains the core design philosophy of the original traction ring developed for YUKA wheels, but has been improved, reinforced, and optimized after extensive real-world testing.

This version is a direct evolution of the TractionBoost Ring V2, preserving the same installation method, functionality, and concept, while introducing key refinements that significantly improve performance, fit, and durability.

Design Evolution

After several weeks of development, testing, and fine adjustments — along with real-world user feedback — this new version has been refined to address minor weaknesses identified in previous iterations.

The V3 design improves:

INTEGRATION WITH THE ORIGINAL WHEEL

The geometry of the ring has been carefully refined to perfectly match the original YUKA tire design. It follows the natural visual flow of the wheel, making the ring: Look like a factory-integrated component Avoid the appearance of a bulky add-on Maintain both aesthetic and functional consistency
Traction & Real-World Performance
The updated V3 geometry introduces subtle improvements in the contact surface, resulting in: Better grip on grass Reduced wheel slippage Improved performance on wet surfaces Increased stability during operation Additionally, the improved fit reduces vibrations and enhances overall robot behavior.
Reinforced Structure

INTEGRATED ALIGNMENT SYSTEM (IMPORTANT)

This design includes built-in alignment reference points, which are essential for correct installation.

 You will find two small reference markers (dots) integrated into the model
These are clearly visible in the reference image on the profile

🔍 Why is this necessary?
On YUKA wheels (Series 1000 / 2000 / 3000), the tread pattern is not fully uniform:

Some tread blocks are separated
Others are connected as a single unit (double blocks)

Because of this variation, spacing is not perfectly consistent, which can affect the final positioning of the ring if installed without reference.

🧠 How to Install Using the Guides (IMPORTANT)

Align the ring’s reference markers with the double (connected) tread blocks on the tire
Use the profile reference image to correctly identify this position
Once aligned, apply gradual and even pressure around the ring
Ensure both markers are properly aligned before applying final pressure

🔩 General Installation

The system keeps the same approach as previous versions:

No screws required
No glue required
No tools required

The ring uses a press-fit system, allowing for quick, secure installation and easy removal when needed.
🧠 Installation Recommendations

Thoroughly clean the tires before installation
Ensure no grass, dirt, or moisture is present
Check the orientation of the ring
Traction blocks must face outward
Align the ring with the outer edge of the tire
Apply even and gradual pressure until fully seated
Avoid excessive force
After several mowing sessions, check that the rings remain properly seated
If slightly displaced, press gently back into position
Before starting the robot, ensure both rings are firmly in place

💡 Usage Tips

In wet conditions or with leaves, debris may accumulate between traction blocks
Keeping the lawn clean improves performance
Periodic wheel cleaning is recommended
On hard surfaces (e.g., pavement), wear will depend on the material used

⚠️ Important Note

The TractionBoost Ring V3:

Does not interfere with the charging station
Does not affect sensors or signals
Allows normal robot operation

🧪 Recommended Materials

For outdoor use:

ASA (best option)
ASA-CF / ASA Kevlar
PETG / PETG-CF

These materials provide good resistance to:

UV exposure
Moisture
Temperature changes

❌ PLA is not recommended for long-term outdoor use

Nozzle temperature:

ASA: 260–270 °C
PETG: 240–250 °C

Bed temperature:

ASA: ~100 °C

Cooling:

ASA: off or minimal
PETG: 25–30%
